“You’re having a baby? Is it a boy or a girl?”
I can answer the first question, but we’ll find out the second answer sometime around May 2nd. Honestly there are a lot of other questions I wonder about besides the gender of the baby. My friend Monica M. taught me the true meaning of navel gazing when we were in graduate school. Graduate students practically get paid to gaze at their navels and all the navels in their field. As a pregnant woman, I have spent a lot more time that normal gazing at my navel, literally and figuratively.
Here are just a few of the questions I wonder about.
Will the baby have brown eyes?
Will the baby have hair or not?
Will the baby come early, on time or late?
Will the baby love sports or love geeky stuff? Or both?
Will the baby love dogs like its mom or tolerate them like its dad? (and tolerate is a generous word)
Will the baby learn to knit, sew or do something completely different?
Will the baby love hip hop? J
These are all fun questions to dream about and soon I’ll know some of the answers. But mainly I want a healthy happy baby that Brad and I will love and care for.
